INSIDE THE NEW NOMAD LOS ANGELES

One can say, that The NoMad New York has established itself as a benchmark in glamorous boutique hotel design. So we were quite curious how the posh and elegant style would translate into a laid-back city like Los Angeles. Rest assured, Sydell Group has once again landed a stroke of genius, transforming a neo-classical building in downtown Los Angeles into the next place-to-be.

THE HOTEL

The new hip hotel and former bank building is located in the still edgy, but surely vibrant and changing Downtown Los Angeles. Owned and run by Sydell Group, it continues the spirit of the New York flagship NoMad.

The hotel features 241 rooms, a casually elegant restaurant & bar, library, an all-day Italian inspired café, formal dining room, and rooftop pool that offers sweeping views of the city and the Downtown Los Angeles skyline. Chef Daniel Humm and restaurateur Will Guidara of Make It Nice (Eleven Madison Park, The NoMad, Made Nice) run the food and beverage program. These are the culinary duo’s first dining establishments outside of New York.

THE INTERIOR AND THE ROOMS

The interior, designed by Jacques Garcia (Hôtel Costes in Paris, Selman Marrakech, NoMad New York and the new Hôtel Lutetia in Paris) is inspired by Italy – a nod to the buildings historical roots as the former Bank of Italy. NoMad Los Angeles is the French designer’s first project in the city and we love the outcome with a generous use of purple and red velvet and brocade fabrics and gold, original art p pieces on the walls, Terrazzo surfaces in the bathrooms and atmosphere of the good old days in Hollywood.

Looking at the pictures we can’t to see the cool crowd flocking to the rooftop bar making it a social hot spot for many long summer nights to come.
