Robert Doisneau Exhibition Berlin

EXHIBITION IN BERLIN: PHOTOGRAPHER ROBERT DOISNEAU

“People like my photos because they see in them what they would see if they stopped rushing about and took the time to enjoy the city…”
– Robert Doisneau –

This photographer took the picture who gave Paris the name ‘The City of Love’. And it’s all about this one picture, shot in March 1950 in the french capital, that became one of the iconic pictures of the 20th century and made Doisneau famous: ‘Le Baiser l’Hôtel de Ville’ (which is the picture of this article, of course).

Now you can see his entire work in a great exhibition at Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin until the 5th of March 2017. Because Doisneau and his work were much deeper and complex than most people know. He didn’t just capture random moments from the french burgeoise and public life, he also worked as a photojournalist for magazines like Vogue, LIFE, Paris Match and Le Point.

From melancholic snapshots with the beauty of spontanity to great artworks which are an inspiration for today’s biggest photojournalists.

To this day, Robert Doisneau stands for what is called “humanist photography”. A photography, which turns to people in their everyday life.

That’s why you should better visit his exhibtion in Berlin.
