NEW RESTAURANT IN BERLIN: FUNKY FISCH

I go out for dinner way too often. In fact, I eat out so much, that I turned into one of those super annoying customers requesting specials or “the sauce on the side” every time. But on my recent visit to Funky Fisch on Kantstrasse in Berlin, I didn’t change a thing on the order. Because everything is fresh and prepared without fuss, just delicious!

THE FOOD

“Each and every restaurant that I open is based on a dish that I love”, says Duc Ngo, the founder of the newest restaurant opening in Berlin. We should point out that this is his 10th restaurant.

After the other successful venues Kuchi, next to Kuchi, 893 Ryotei, Madame Ngo, Funky Fisch is here to serve seafood in any possible way your heart desires: simply grilled, steamed, on a salad, as carpaccio, as poke, as bouillabaisse or inside a taco. Just nothing too fancy. You can also order your sides any way you like: there’s rice, potatoes, cucumber salad, risotto or a mixed salad and a variety of sauces to choose from.

THE INTERIOR

Neon blue and red lights line the ceilings and concrete exposed walls with a most likely LSD-inspired fish painting. The rest of the interior is quite simple, but that makes it comfortable, definitely a place for the whole family. In the front area of the restaurant, you’ll find the “Fish-stage”. A counter where all fresh fish is laid out for you to choose and watch being prepared. We recommend the tuna poke, as well as any grilled fresh fish with their aioli, salsa verde or homemade estragon-dill-sauce!
