Since the beginning of last year, we work together with our friends at SUPER PAPER MAGAZINE. In every issue, you find our column about our go-to-spots, latest discoveries or all-time-favorites – when it comes to traveling, drinks, shopping or good food all over the world. In the latest issue, we shared our favorite SPAs, retreats, and products to help us detox in our hometowns Munich, Hamburg and Berlin with you.
2018 is going to be different. Not only because we’ve spent the last days of the past year lying on the sofa, reflecting on life and eating too much food. But because we’re putting all our hopes into our new year’s resolutions, that everything – especially oneself – will be healthier, happier and better.
Reason enough to present our favorite things and places in Munich, Hamburg, and Berlin that are perfect for that wanted reset.
MUNICH
KOREAN FACIAL AT MiiN STORE
This small all-pink store is located in central Munich and sells products from South Korea that are better than any SPA treatment. Not only are the products beneficial for your beauty, but also for the environment: you’ll only find brands that work sustainable and use natural ingredients. Eco-certified natural cosmetics and a large selection of vegan cosmetics, that are free from animal testing. Our favorite: the hydrating sheet masks against Hangovers with animal faces like a panda or a tiger.
Address: MiiN Korean Cosmetics, Westenriederstraße 8, 80331 München
A TRUE HAMMAM EXPERIENCE
Dreaming of going far far away? That’s not always necessary: Munich has not only classical saunas like the Prinzenbad or the Müllresche Volksbad to offer, but also the amazing Hamam Mathilden. Here, you’re handed the linen cloth Pestemal, Turkish herbal tea, coffee or Ayran, very traditional! To relax, there’s heated marble floors, oriental music, and the typical scrub massage. A must-try!
BERLIN
RELAX AT STADTBAD ODERBERGER
Located at Prenzlauer Berg you’ll find the Oderberger: a hotel that also serves as a municipal pool. It’s actually an indoor swimming pool from the Neorenaissance, where you can now also spend the night. There’s stunning arches, bright turquoise tiling, a sauna and a pool with 20 meters for extensive lane swimming. A historic place for a break and a little downtime in the middle of the capital.
Address: Hotel Stadtbad Oderberger, Oderberger Straße 57, Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg
AYURVEDIC FOOD AT MANAFOOD
Opened a couple of weeks ago, Manafood serves exclusively vegan and gluten-free food, that has nothing to do with common boring Tofu dishes. The recipes are inspired by Ayurvedic cuisine and you’ll also find some healthy bowls with local and seasonal ingredients on the menu. If you fancy Brunch as much as we do: they offer a delicious buffet every Sunday!
Address: Mana Food, Merseburger Str. 15, 10823 Berlin
HAMBURG
ENERGY CLINIC AT ATLANTIC KEMPINSKI
It doesn’t always have to bee the Betty Ford. For those of you who want to fight the psychological and physical depression of the end of the year we recommend one of the many E-Recharge treatments at the Energy Clinic of the Atlantic Kempinski Hotel: Facial massage with acupressure, a nurturing mask, neck and shoulder and foot massage and easy meditation exercises. We’ll be back for more!
Address: Energy Clinic im Atlantic Kempinski, An der Alster 72-79, 20099 Hamburg, www.energyclinic.de
KÜSTENPERLE IN BÜSUM
People in Hamburg like it rough. That’s why a trip to the icy cold and the windy North Sea is just as normal in winter time as it is during summer. The Beach hotel & SPA Küstenperle in Büsum is a nice destination for a weekend trip away from the city. After a long walk outdoors, you can change your gummi boots for SPA slippers and let yourself get spoiled with one of the many treatments: algae and sea salt scrub followed by a detox body wrap.
