Located in the Northern harbor of Copenhagen you’ll find a former coal crane from 1944, that has now been transformed into the coolest one-room-hotel you can imagine. If you want to spend some time in a unique designed atmosphere – but totally on your own – this masterpiece of industrial old-meets-new design might be the ultimate retreat for you.
ABOUT THE KRANE
The Krane is limited to one bedroom, but that doesn’t imply that you get bored there. You’ll have a full-time concierge at your disposal, a spa and breakfast served in the room while looking at the horizon of Copenhagen. Who’s idea was it? The Scandinavian lifestyle brand Menu teamed with architect Mads Møller of Arcgency to make this striking project possible.
THE BEDROOM FOR TWO
An open air walkway divides the lounge from the main Krane room. Once you walk to the living room of this building, you enter a square room which is located 15 meters above the ground. The bedroom is at the top of The Krane and is all about black interior – dedicated to the coal that the crane used to carry.
The all-black space is furnished with built-in furniture, as well as custom-made pieces in leather, wood, stone and steel made by the finest designers of Denmark and Scandinavia. The private suite consists of a large bed, dining area, kitchen and distinct interior accessories. Owner and visionary Klaus Kastbjerg created the concept.
THE MEETING ROOM
You don’t have to stay in the hotel, to experience The Krane. Each area is available for rent. So you can also just book the “Glassroom Meeting Room” with its 360° panoramic view. It is ideal to host from 20 to 40 people.
THE SPA
In a shipping container next to The Krane, you find “The Amazing Spa”. It is also open to non-guests and run by another great Danish brand, that is also responsible for the service at the hotel D’Angleterre in Copenhagen. Located in a container, it’s keeping up with the industrial theme of the whole project from the outside. However, inside you’ll find a lighter atmosphere with polished stone and wood, candles and soft merino blankets to provide some luxurious coziness.
And once you have experienced enough privacy, you have the easiest way to get around in the city. As part of the package of The Krane, a driver will meet you at the airport to pick you up with an Electric BMW car. During your entire stay, the car belongs to you.
