THE BEST STATIONERY SHOPS IN MUNICH, BERLIN AND HAMBURG

Since the beginning of this year, we work together with our friends at SUPER PAPER MAGAZINE. In every issue, you find our column about our go-to-spots, latest discoveries or all-time-favorites – when it comes to traveling, drinks, shopping or good food all over the world. In the latest issue, we shared our favorite stationery shops in our hometowns Munich, Hamburg, and Berlin with you.

Because this month we want to slow down and take more time for one of the most beautiful things in life: handwriting. Because everything in December revolves around pretty Christmas cards – preferably personalized and in beautiful writing – and neat gift wrapping paper for our loved ones: here are our favorite stationery shops in Berlin, Munich, and Hamburg:

BERLIN

Once you enter this shop in Berlin Mitte, you’ll want to own everything they offer: from all papers, pens to little gadgets. If you’re not looking for a handwritten letter on special paper or a unique Christmas card, then maybe just a little note for that special someone? You’ll always find enough reasons to buy a bit more than you originally came for because this place celebrates the personalization of handwriting. The majority of what’s on offer is from Japan, like the “Otho” paperclips, but you’ll find plentiful beautiful pens and pencils and little notebooks by “The Traveler’s Company”. There’s a nice selection of pretty stickers, tapes and something special for all animal lovers: Japanese paper clips decorated with cats or dogs. If you keep looking, you’ll find paper knives from brass and beautiful pens by “KaWeCo” as well as a nice selection of business cards by the label “Kami” from Berlin. Our favorite: the scented paper slips from France.

MUNICH

If you’re in Munich and looking for hand-made paper, luxurious gift wrapping paper or Christmas cards with local character, then you absolutely have to visit Carta Pura. The shop in Schwabing is, next to a fantastic selection of Paper, famous for the classic art of bookbinding and mixes it with its own and other pretty products from around the world. The most memorable come from either Italy or Japan: Florentine “Carta Varese” or special Japanese handcrafted deckle-edge with endless choices. Another special thing about this place: with help and instructions form the owners, you can create your very own hand-made notebooks or photo albums. What other gifts could be more personalized than that? If you’re looking for a simpler version, their own collection of notebooks are wonderful too.

HAMBURG

Not only will you find Christmas cards, wrapping paper or beautiful stationery here: you’ll find everything that has a connection to writing, gifting or organizing at the family-owned Repro Lüdke in Hamburg. The shop has a huge selection of products for the home office, gift ideas and stationary. It’s important to the owners, that everything, not only looks nice but also comes from a sustainable production, like the beautiful handmade paper from a Belgian manufacturer, luxurious natural paper from England or colorful fun creations by a family-run business from Germany. We absolutely love the designs by young paper and graphic designers from Hamburg and northern Germany: Greeting cards with noble relief printing onto real deckle-edge paper, handmade in Hamburg. We already chose our Christmas cards this year: a minimalistic red shooting star, too cute!

Adress: Repro Lüdke, Gertigstraße 66, 22303 Hamburg und Schlüterstraße 50 – 52, 20146 Hamburg

Good afternoon, could you recommend a Hamburg stationary store stocking Traveler’s Notebooks, the leather cover, inserts and accessories?
