Last Update June 2019
Nothing signals the end of winter better than day drinking. Whether it’s meeting some friends for a couple of beers at the hippest and busiest street corner, bar or beach of your city or cheating your way up to a fancy rooftop terrace of a luxury hotel. Daytime belongs to the unapologetic drinker. So this time we want to share our favorite spots with you if you’re into solid day drinking:
Munich
Café Vorhölzer
Oh how much we’ve missed summertime! We only realized this the moment we were sitting, cold drink in hand, on the rooftop terrace of the TU Munich. The perfect spot to not only watch the interesting mixture of posh girls and bearded skater guys but to have the best view over the city.
Institutsbau, Arcisstraße 21, 80333 München
Goldene Bar
Located at “Haus der Kunst”, everything here is gold plated and decorated in Art deco style. But it’s the terrace that remains in our memories: facing the “English Garden”, afternoons have gone by in a breeze and we’ve been served some of the best drinks in town. Come by for a Sundowner and listen to different DJs every Sunday from 5-10pm.
Prinzregentenstraße 1, 80538 München
Viktualienmarkt
No insider, but one of our favorite classics in Munich. There’s sunshine all day, and high chances of meeting familiar, probably slightly drunk faces of friends wandering by. For those who want to upgrade from beer and Obazda, we recommend a bottle of cold Rosé wine and fresh oysters at Fisch Witte across the street. A Munich contrast by the book!

Hamburg
Supper Club
Opened two summers ago, this place is the newest addition to Hamburg with stunning views of the Isekanal and one of the best sunshine spots in the city. Here you can get active and rent Stand Up Paddles or a kayak and just take some drinks with you while paddling out to the Alster or through the canals in summer. If you’re not the multitasking type, just sit down on the side of the pier and enjoy some ice cold drinks.

Vier Jahreszeiten Hotel
OK so officially the bar is just for guests of the hotel, so you should show a little confidence walking in. Put your chin up, walk straight through the lobby and take the elevator up to the rooftop terrace on the sixth floor. The view, the 300sqm open terrace, and the specialty cocktails are worth it, we promise!
Neuer Jungfernstieg 9-14, 20354 Hamburg
Cornern
This time it’s not about a bar but a corner of a street, that became one of the hottest spots in town. You simply buy a beer at a “Kiosk” and sit down somewhere between where the streets Thadenstraße meets Grüner Jäger meets Wohlwillstraße in front of Toast Bar in St. Pauli. Makes sense? No. You have to see for yourself: it’s something between summer festival feeling and an open-air catwalk. And all the cool kids are here.
Wohlwillstraße, 20359 Hamburg
Berlin
Markthalle Neun
Berlin is famous for its depressing weather during winter time. Also in summer, you might have to go inside at times. The best place: the food market Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg, where there’s not only amazing food on offer but also enough wine and Spritz to keep you going.
Klunkerkranich
Located on a rooftop of a shopping mall in Neukölln, this spot is a true green oasis in a concrete jungle like Berlin. Here you’ll enjoy the best view of the city, different DJs and snacks at their cantina “zum fetten Finken”. It’s nothing new to the city but its relaxed vibe make this spot one of our evergreens in Berlin.
Neukölln Arcaden, Karl-Marx-Straße 66, auf dem obersten Parkdeck, 12043 Berlin
Club der Visionäre
A little more exciting stuff happens on the edge of Treptower River. If you arrive on Sundays you will meet a mixture of people that are either still or just about to start partying. All you need is here: lounge chairs, comfortable beds, some greenery and flowers, electronic music. Perfect spot to dip your feet in the water and enjoy one too many beers.
Am Flutgraben, 12435 Berlin
Holzmarkt 25
Right at the Spree river, in the middle of East and West Berlin, connecting Friedrichshain, Mitte and Kreuzberg, this hidden gem is a nice contrast to the surrounding high rise office buildings. Definitely one of the best spots to catch some sun and enjoy drinks in the city.

Wien
Tel Aviv Beach
The owners of this place are the guys behind the NENI restaurants and would probably like to spend all summer in Israel on the beach. That’s why they brought Tel Aviv to Vienna and opened up this hotspot at Donaukanal. There’s different DJs, lovely cocktails and a selection of their most famous Neni dishes. Just please don’t fall into the canal, will you?
Obere Donaustraße 65, 1020 Wien
Palmenhaus
At Burggarten inside a historic greenhouse you will find the brasserie, that’s also part of a butterfly house in case you feel like visiting that after some drinks. But the best spot is outside on the terrace where you will have sunshine all day, and marvel at the amazing facade of the national gallery.

25 Hours Hotel
Once you take the elevator up to the rooftop of the 25hours hotel at Museumsquartier you enter the bar “Dachboden”. The building used to be a student dorm, however now the motto here is “circus”. Where else would a circus end best on a Sunday?Lerchenfelder Str. 1-3, 1070 Wien
