New restaurants are opening in Berlin every week. But what about a real Berlin classic? Here is my ultimate favorite restaurant which I always visit when I’m in town: Grill Royal.
ONE OF BERLIN’S CLASSICS
Grill Royal is not only at an ideal location directly at the Spree on Friedrichsstrasse, but since ten years it’s the place to be and for people-spotting. As we encountered during Fashion Week again. Because everyone who comes to Berlin for an event and who you always wanted to see: You will definitely run into at Grill Royal. For me it’s a good combination of delicious food and a cosy but elegant atmosphere. Also with its beautiful terrace it’s nice to sit outside close to the river in summertime and enjoy drinks there. Of course it’s more expensive than the average dining in Berlin, but totally worth it.
Always a good choice at Grill Royal: Beef Tatar
Best quality: Meat from Japan and Ireland
How it all started? In 2007 when the owners Boris Radczun and Stephan Landwehr openend this restaurant with the aim to create a space where people can eat the meat and fish of best quality and drink champagne with their friends. They wanted to have a comfortable space where people can hang out and socialize. Since a short time they have the famous Roel Lintermans as their head chef. And as you can imagine: It is always booked out! So be on time if you want to get a table.
THE FOOD
My favorite choice from the menu? Besides their steaks, they also have amazing vegetarian dishes like butter head lettuce with vinaigrette or yoghurt dressing. And it’s served in whole. I just love it.
